Khazanah Nasional Berhad (“Khazanah”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dato’ Dr Nirmala Menon to its Board of Directors. The appointment was made at the 82nd meeting of Khazanah’s Board of Directors today.
Dato’ Dr Nirmala brings with her over three decades of experience in the insurance and health sectors. She was Executive Vice President, Head of Designated Markets & Health Asia at MetLife Asia Pacific Ltd, where she was responsible for operations in Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Myanmar. Prior to joining MetLife, Dato’ Dr Nirmala served as Head of South Asia at ING Asia Pacific Ltd, and before that, she was President and CEO of ING Malaysia Berhad, becoming the first woman CEO in the life insurance industry in Malaysia.
Trained as a physician, Dato’ Dr Nirmala obtained her degree from the University of Mysore, India, with a First Class Distinction. She served as a Medical Officer at Hospital Kuala Lumpur for seven years before commencing her career in the insurance industry.
