GLC Open Day to be held from 7 to 9 August 2015

13 July 2015

The GLC Open Day 2015 will be held from 7 to 9 August 2015 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Themed Graduating to a Higher Class: Nation Building, Touching Lives, the GLC Open Day 2015 will showcase how Government-linked Investment Companies (GLICs) and Government-linked Companies (GLCs) have progressed and contributed towards the development of the country and impacted the lives of Malaysians.

The GLC Open Day 2015, an initiative of the Putrajaya Committee on GLC High Performance (PCG), will see the participation of five GLICs and 17 GLCs, popularly known as G201, under the GLC Transformation (GLCT) Programme.

The 10-year GLCT Programme which was launched in 2005 will officially conclude in August 2015. A ‘graduation’ ceremony will held on 7 August, to coincide with the end of the programme. The Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak is expected to be the guest of honour at the event.

The GLCT programme was launched by the former Prime Minister, Tun Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi on 29 July 2005 in a move to transform GLCs into high performing entities.

In addition to the 22 companies promoting products and services at their respective booths, the exhibition will also feature five clusters which will highlight the 10-year journey and the corresponding achievements of the GLCT Programme, as well as provide a glimpse of GLCs’ offerings in the future.

Other activities planned throughout the three-day event are forums, competitions, children’s activities, and lucky draws designed to maximise public participation.

This is the second time that the PCG will organise an open day for the public. In 2011, mid-way through the GLCT Programme, GLC Open Day 2011 attracted a crowd of about 25,000 people to the event. Based on the positive feedback from the public, the PCG secretariat has decided to conduct another open day this year. At least 40,000 people are expected to attend GLC Open Day 2015.

A dedicated microsite, www.glcopenday.com.my will be launched soon whereby members of the public can obtain more updates and information on the GLC Open Day 2015.
