Khazanah Nasional Berhad (“Khazanah”) has today made the following announcement in Indonesia to BAPEPAM;
“We hereby would like to announce that we, Khazanah Nasional Berhad (“Khazanah”),a company duly established and organized under the laws of Malaysia, having its registered office at Level 33, Tower 2, Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur City Center, have started discussions and anticipate commencing negotiation in due course with regard to the possible investment in PT Bank Lippo Tbk. (“Bank Lippo”) of a significant strategic interest of at least 25% of total shares in Bank Lippo, either directly or indirectly, both on a standalone basis as well as with other institutions of equal high standing and credibility.
Khazanah is the investment holidng arm of the Malaysian Government entrusted to manage the assets held by the Malaysian Government and to undertake strategic investments. Khazanah’s subsidiaries and associate companies are involved in various sectors such as power, telecommunications, shipping, property, broadcasting, infrastructure and banking.
The purpose of the proposed investments, if implemented, is as a strategic financial investment and commitment by Khazanah to the Indonesian financial and banking sector.
The Proposed Investment shall observe all applicable lawas and regulations and, if implemented, will result in a change of control in Bank Lippo, as in pursuant to Bapepam Rule No. IX.H.1 Attachment to the Decree of the Chairman of BAPEPAM No. Kep05/PM?2002 dated 3 April 2002 (“Rule No. IX.H.1”).
This announcement is made with reference to Rule No. IX.H.1 and contitutes an announcements as defined in Rule No. IX.H.1 point 4 juncto point 8.
