Dato’ Charon Mokhzani joins Khazanah Research Institute as Managing Director

Khazanah Nasional Berhad (“Khazanah”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dato’ Charon Mokhzani as the Managing Director of the newly established Khazanah Research Institute (“KRiS”), effective 6 November 2013. Dato’ Charon was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Investment Banking, CIMB Group and the Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Investment Bank.

KRiS will be separate from the existing Khazanah Research Division, which has been in operation since 2004. The research institute will look at broader national issues as well as those related to Khazanah. “We are pleased to have Dato’ Charon on board as the Institute’s managing director and look forward to his contributions,” said Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, Deputy Chairman of Khazanah and Chairman of KRiS.

Prior to taking on an executive position at the CIMB Group, Dato’ Charon was the Managing Partner of Zaid Ibrahim & Co and before that worked in corporate finance at RHB Securities. Dato’ Charon, 49, read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Balliol College, University of Oxford and Law at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
